King mackerel, or kingfish as they're often called, are a thrilling target for anglers fishing out of Palm Bay. These fast-moving predators are found in the nearshore waters of the Atlantic, especially around reefs, wrecks, and bait schools. The fall and spring months are usually the most productive. Trolling is a highly effective method, using live bait like blue runners or Spanish mackerel, or artificial lures such as spoons and diving plugs. Look for areas with structure or bait concentrations. Sebastian Inlet is a popular access point to reach these fishing grounds. Wire leaders are a must when targeting king mackerel due to their sharp teeth. Be prepared for a blistering run when you hook one of these speedsters! Check local regulations regarding size and bag limits before heading out.
