Palm Bay's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean makes it a launching point for sailfish adventures. These magnificent billfish are most abundant during the winter months, typically from November through April, when they migrate closer to shore. Trolling with dead bait, such as ballyhoo, is a popular method, often combined with teasers to attract the sailfish to the spread. Look for areas with current edges, temperature breaks, and bait concentrations. Charter boats are readily available in the area, offering experienced captains who know the local waters and sailfish patterns. The Sebastian Inlet is a common departure point. Remember to practice proper catch-and-release techniques to ensure the sustainability of the sailfish population. Using circle hooks is highly recommended to minimize injury to the fish.
