Largemouth Bass

The Ozark foothills surrounding Ash Flat, Arkansas, offer some fantastic largemouth bass fishing. The area's numerous small lakes and ponds, along with stretches of the Strawberry River, hold healthy populations of bass. Spring is prime time, as the fish move shallow to spawn. Focus on areas with vegetation, structure, and spawning beds. Summer can be productive early and late in the day, while fall sees another surge in activity as bass feed heavily before winter. Local anglers often have success with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. For river fishing, target eddies and current breaks. Many of the smaller lakes have limited access, so inquire locally about boat rentals or public access points.
