Largemouth Bass

Conway, Arkansas, offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing opportunities, largely thanks to its proximity to Lake Conway. This 6,700-acre lake is known for its abundant vegetation and shallow, stump-filled waters – classic bass habitat. Spring and fall are the peak seasons for bass fishing here, as the fish move into shallower waters to spawn or feed before winter. During the summer, focus on early mornings and late evenings to beat the heat and catch the bass when they are most active. A local tip is to use weedless lures like Texas-rigged worms or frogs, especially in the heavily vegetated areas. The bass in Lake Conway can be quite hefty, with many anglers reporting catches of 5+ pounders. Several boat ramps provide easy access to the lake, but be aware that the lake can get crowded on weekends, so plan accordingly. Lake Overcup, a short drive north, is also worth considering for largemouth.
