Largemouth Bass

If you're heading to Delight, Arkansas, for largemouth bass, you're in for some classic timber-filled fishing. The local lakes and rivers, while not massive, offer a secluded, productive bass fishery. Think smaller bodies of water with plenty of flooded timber and vegetation. Spring and fall are prime times. During the spring spawn, target shallow, protected coves with soft plastics or spinnerbaits. As the water warms in summer, bass will move deeper, seeking cooler water around submerged structure. Fall brings the bass back to the shallows to feed before winter. A local tip: Lake Greeson, while a bit of a drive, is a known bass hotspot in the area, and the Ouachita River offers excellent bank fishing opportunities. Be prepared for stained water conditions, so brighter colored lures often perform best. The bass in this region tend to be aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different retrieves.
