Largemouth Bass

Lake Village, Arkansas, offers some fantastic largemouth bass fishing, particularly in Lake Chicot, the state's largest natural lake. This oxbow lake provides a diverse habitat, from shallow, grassy flats to deep, submerged timber. Spring is a magical time, with bass moving shallow to spawn. Target these fish with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Summer can be tough, but early morning and late evening topwater action can be explosive. In the fall, bass will often school up and chase shad. A key to success here is understanding the seasonal forage. Bass are opportunistic feeders, so match your lure to the prevalent baitfish. Lake Chicot State Park provides excellent access with boat ramps and bank fishing opportunities. Be aware of the cypress trees and stumps, as they provide great cover for bass but can also be hazards for boaters.
