Largemouth Bass

Northeast Arkansas, near Lynn, offers some great largemouth bass fishing in its numerous lakes, rivers, and oxbows. The Spring River and Black River are excellent choices, providing diverse habitat from slow-moving backwaters to faster currents. Spring and fall are peak seasons, with the pre-spawn and post-spawn periods in spring being particularly productive. Look for bass near submerged timber, weed beds, and rocky points. Summer can also be good, especially early in the morning or late in the evening, fishing topwater lures or working deeper structure with crankbaits and jigs. A local tip: Many of the access points along the Spring River are small and can get crowded, so arrive early, especially on weekends. Also, be aware of water levels, as heavy rains can cause the river to rise quickly. The largemouth in this region are known for their aggressive strikes and willingness to hit a variety of lures. Consider using a Texas-rigged worm or a spinnerbait to cover a lot of water.
