Largemouth Bass

Prairie Grove, Arkansas, while not necessarily a renowned bass fishing destination, offers some solid largemouth opportunities in its local ponds, creeks, and the Illinois River. The key is to focus on smaller, less pressured waters. Spring and fall are the prime times to target largemouth here, as they are more active during these periods. During the spring spawn, target shallow, weedy areas with spinnerbaits or soft plastics. In the fall, focus on areas near creek channels and drop-offs with crankbaits or jigs. Many of the ponds are on private property, so always secure permission before fishing. The Illinois River near Prairie Grove offers some good bank fishing access; look for areas with rocky structure or submerged timber.
