Largemouth Bass

If you're looking for largemouth bass in the Ozarks, South Lead Hill, Arkansas, offers access to some excellent freshwater fishing. Bull Shoals Lake is the primary draw, a massive reservoir known for its clear water and healthy bass population. Spring and fall are prime times. During the spring spawning season, target shallow coves and submerged timber with spinnerbaits and soft plastics. Fall sees the bass actively feeding before winter; crankbaits and topwater lures near points and drop-offs can be very effective. A local tip: Pay attention to the lake's thermocline during the summer months, as bass will often congregate just above it in cooler water. Public access is readily available at numerous boat ramps around the lake, but be prepared for fluctuating water levels, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. The bass here are known for being aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different retrieves.
