Largemouth Bass

Kentucky largemouth are a prized target, and River Bluff offers some excellent opportunities. The Ohio River and its backwaters, along with nearby smaller lakes and ponds, provide diverse habitats that hold good numbers of bass. Spring is prime time, as the bass move shallow to spawn. Target weed beds and submerged timber with spinnerbaits and Texas-rigged worms. Fall is another excellent window as bass aggressively feed before winter. Look for schools of shad and throw crankbaits or swimbaits that imitate their size and profile. A key to success in River Bluff is understanding the river's fluctuations. High water can open up new areas, but also make fishing tougher. Check river levels before you go and adjust your tactics accordingly. Local anglers often have success fishing riprap along the riverbanks, especially near bridge pilings. Remember to check Kentucky's fishing regulations before heading out.
