Largemouth Bass

Dundee, Michigan, offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing opportunities, largely thanks to its proximity to the River Raisin and several smaller lakes and ponds in Monroe County. The Raisin, while a river, has slow-moving sections that provide ideal habitat. Spring is prime time, as bass move into the shallows to spawn. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation or fallen timber. Early morning and late evening are particularly productive. A local tip: try fishing the backwaters off the main river channel after a rain, as the increased flow can bring in baitfish and stir up the bass. Also, be aware that some areas along the river are privately owned, so respect posted signage and access points. The bass here tend to be opportunistic feeders, so a variety of lures can work, but many locals favor spinnerbaits and Texas-rigged worms.
