Largemouth Bass

If you're after largemouth bass near Maybee, Michigan, the inland lakes and reservoirs south of Detroit offer some solid fishing. These waters generally hold healthy populations, and you'll find bass relating to weed lines, docks, and other structure. Summer can be excellent, especially fishing early mornings or late evenings to avoid the heat and boat traffic. Look for areas where the water is slightly stained, as this often concentrates the fish. Flipping jigs and Texas-rigged worms into heavy cover is a reliable tactic. A local tip: Lake Erie Metropark is relatively close and can provide good shore fishing access. Also, be mindful of zebra mussels, which are prevalent in many of these waters and can impact lure presentation. Experiment with different retrieves to find what the bass are responding to.
