Largemouth Bass

Metamora, Michigan, offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing within its numerous inland lakes and the connected Flint River watershed. The area's diverse aquatic vegetation and varied bottom structure create ideal habitat for bass. Spring is prime time, as bass move shallow to spawn. Target weed lines, docks, and submerged timber with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Summer finds the bass holding deeper, around structure and in shaded areas. Try fishing Texas-rigged worms or jigs. A local tip: Lake Metamora, the area's namesake, offers good bass fishing opportunities. The DNR launch provides easy access, but it can get busy on weekends. Also, explore some of the smaller, less-known lakes in the area; these often hold surprisingly large bass with less fishing pressure. Metamora bass are known for their aggressive feeding habits, providing exciting action for anglers of all skill levels.
