Largemouth Bass

Head to Millersburg, Michigan, and you'll find yourself in prime largemouth bass territory. The area is dotted with numerous inland lakes, each offering its own unique bass fishing experience. Black Lake, while known for its sturgeon, also holds a healthy population of largemouth. Focus on areas with weed edges, lily pads, and submerged timber. Summer is the peak season for bass fishing, as the water warms and the fish become more active. Topwater lures can be incredibly effective in the early morning and late evening. During the day, try flipping jigs or Texas-rigged worms around heavy cover. Many of the lakes have public access points and boat launches, but some are smaller and more secluded, requiring a bit of exploration. The bass in this region tend to be aggressive, and you can find some real lunkers if you know where to look. Pay attention to the wind direction, as bass often congregate on the windward side of the lake.
