Largemouth Bass

Otter Lake in Michigan is a fantastic destination for largemouth bass anglers. This lake's diverse structure, including weed beds, docks, and submerged timber, provides ample habitat for bass of all sizes. The best time to target largemouth here is during the spring spawning season (late May to early June) and again in the fall as the water cools. During the spawn, focus on shallow bays and coves with visible nests. In the fall, target areas near drop-offs and weed lines. A practical tip is to launch from the public access site on the lake's western shore. Otter Lake's largemouth are known for being aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different lures and techniques. Topwater baits, such as frogs and buzzbaits, can be particularly effective in the summer months, while crankbaits and jigs work well in deeper water. The bass population is healthy, offering both quantity and the chance at a quality fish.
