Largemouth Bass

If you're heading to Prescott, Michigan in pursuit of Largemouth Bass, you're in for a treat. The area is dotted with numerous smaller lakes and ponds that hold healthy populations of these fish. While not as well-known as some of the larger Michigan bass fisheries, this offers a more secluded, 'up north' experience. The best time to target largemouth here is during the pre-spawn in late spring (May-June) when the fish are actively feeding in the shallows. Early mornings and evenings are particularly productive. Look for weedy areas and submerged timber in lakes like Long Lake and Vaughn Lake. A great tip is to use weedless Texas-rigged worms or topwater frogs when fishing heavy cover. Be mindful of private property; many lakes have limited public access, so scout access points beforehand.
