Roosevelt Park, despite its urban setting, offers surprisingly decent Largemouth Bass fishing. The Muskegon River, which flows nearby, and the smaller lakes and ponds within the park provide accessible opportunities for anglers of all skill levels. While you won't find trophy-sized bass consistently, the chance to catch a few decent fish in a convenient location is a definite draw. Spring is the best time to target bass in these waters as they move into the shallows to spawn. Look for areas with lily pads, docks, and other structure that provide cover. Simple techniques like casting plastic worms or crankbaits along the edges of cover can be very effective. A local tip for Roosevelt Park: try fishing the smaller, less-pressured ponds within the park; these often hold some overlooked bass.
