Largemouth Bass

White Pigeon, Michigan, offers a more intimate largemouth bass fishing experience than some of the larger, more well-known destinations. The area is dotted with smaller lakes and ponds, many offering surprisingly good bass fishing. Look to places like Klinger Lake, or explore some of the smaller, unnamed bodies of water that can be found throughout the area. Spring is, as usual, prime time for targeting spawning bass in the shallows. Try working the shorelines with spinnerbaits and soft plastics. Summer can be good too, especially early mornings and evenings. Try topwater frogs and buzzbaits in weedy areas. A local tip: Many of these smaller lakes have limited public access, so be sure to research access points beforehand. The bass in this area tend to be less pressured than in larger lakes, but they can also be more sensitive to changes in weather and water conditions.
