Largemouth Bass

Looking for Largemouth Bass in Nebraska? Albion offers some surprisingly good opportunities. While not a trophy bass destination, the small lakes, ponds, and the Beaver Creek near Albion hold decent numbers of bass. The best time to target them is during the spring spawn (late April-May) and again in the fall as the water cools. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation, fallen trees, or other structure where bass can ambush prey. A local tip: many of the smaller ponds are on private land, so always ask permission before fishing. The public access areas along Beaver Creek can also be productive. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastic worms are all effective lures. Expect to catch bass in the 1-3 pound range, with the occasional larger fish. Given the relatively clear water in some of these locations, using fluorocarbon leaders can improve your success. Don't overlook the power of a well-placed topwater lure during early morning or late evening hours.
