Largemouth Bass

Tarnov, Nebraska, and its surroundings offer some decent largemouth bass fishing if you know where to look. Forget crowded lakes; think smaller, more secluded ponds and the quieter sections of nearby creeks and rivers. These smaller bodies of water can hold surprisingly good populations. Spring is, as usual, the best time, with pre-spawn and spawning activity making the bass more aggressive and accessible in shallower water. Early mornings and late evenings are often productive. A local tip: don't overlook farm ponds (with permission, of course!). These can be overlooked gems. The bass around Tarnov tend to be on the smaller side, but they're scrappy fighters. Consider using weedless lures like Texas-rigged worms or frogs, as vegetation can be dense. Water clarity can be variable, so pack a variety of lure colors and types to adapt to the conditions. Remember to practice catch and release to help maintain the population.
