Largemouth Bass

Looking for largemouth bass in south-central Nebraska? Arapahoe offers some surprisingly good opportunities, largely thanks to the Medicine Creek Reservoir (also known as Harry Strunk Lake) just a short drive north. This reservoir, along with the associated Medicine Creek, provides diverse habitat for bass, from submerged timber and weed beds to rocky shorelines. Spring and fall are prime times to target bass here, as they move into shallower water to spawn or fatten up for winter. During the summer months, focus on deeper structure and early morning or late evening fishing. A local tip: Pay attention to water levels in the reservoir, as they can fluctuate and affect bass behavior. Also, the area around the dam often holds good numbers of fish. The largemouth bass in Medicine Creek are known for being relatively aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different lures and retrieve speeds.
