Largemouth Bass

If you're headed to Belvidere, Nebraska, and have largemouth bass on your mind, you're in for some classic Midwest fishing. The area's smaller lakes and ponds, often farm-adjacent, are where you'll find the most action. Spring, particularly pre-spawn (late April/early May), is prime time. Bass are aggressive and readily hitting lures as they prepare to spawn. Fall is another excellent window as they feed up for winter. Summer can be productive, but focus on early mornings and late evenings to avoid the heat and find active fish. Local tip: Many of these smaller waters lack official access points, so be respectful of private property and seek permission where necessary. Also, pay attention to water clarity; these waters can get murky quickly after rain, impacting lure presentation. The bass here tend to be on the smaller side, but you might find some quality fish. Look for submerged vegetation or timber, as these provide excellent ambush points.
