Largemouth Bass

Rockwall, Texas, nestled on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard, is a fantastic base for chasing largemouth bass. Ray Hubbard is a large reservoir known for its submerged timber, rocky points, and hydrilla patches, all prime bass habitat. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target largemouth here, as they move shallow to spawn. Throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Texas-rigged plastics around spawning areas can be highly effective. Summer sees the fish move deeper, so switch to Carolina rigs, deep-diving crankbaits, and football jigs around submerged structure and creek channels. Fall can also be productive as the bass feed up before winter. A local tip: Pay close attention to the wind. Wind-blown points often hold active fish. The numerous boat ramps around the lake, like the one at Robertson Park, provide easy access, but be aware that Ray Hubbard can get crowded, especially on weekends.
