While Sundance, Wyoming, is better known for its Black Hills scenery, you can still find some decent Largemouth Bass fishing within a short drive. Keyhole Reservoir, a bit northeast of town, is your best bet. This reservoir offers a mix of submerged timber, weed beds, and rocky points that provide ideal habitat for largemouth. Focus your efforts in the spring during the pre-spawn and spawn, and again in the fall as the fish fatten up for winter. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics are all effective lure choices. Try fishing the weed edges and submerged timber with a Texas-rigged worm or a jig. The boat ramp on the south side of the reservoir provides good access. Be aware that the water level can fluctuate, so check conditions before you go. The largemouth here may not be giants, but they can provide some fun action in a beautiful setting.
