As the largest natural lake in the state, Bantam offers extensive weed beds and shallow bays, ideal habitat for these ambush predators. Pike fishing heats up in early spring just after ice-out as the fish move into the shallows to spawn. Fall can also be productive as they feed heavily before winter. A local tip: focus your efforts around the numerous islands and submerged vegetation using large spinnerbaits, spoons, or even dead bait rigs. Remember, Bantam Lake can get busy, especially on weekends, so arriving early is key.
