Northern Pike

If you're chasing Northern Pike in northern Michigan, Beulah offers some fantastic opportunities. Crystal Lake, known for its incredibly clear waters, is the prime location. The pike here can grow quite large, often lurking in the deeper weed beds and along drop-offs. Spring, just after ice-out, and fall, as the water cools, are the peak seasons. During these times, pike are actively feeding to bulk up for winter or recover from spawning. A local tip: try trolling large crankbaits or casting swimbaits along the perimeter of the lake's many weedlines. Also, be aware that Crystal Lake's clarity means pike are easily spooked, so use stealthy approaches and longer casts. Boat access is readily available at the public launch on the lake's north end, but be prepared for potentially crowded conditions, especially on weekends.
