Northern Pike

If you're looking to tangle with northern pike in the Harrietta area, you're in luck. The numerous lakes and flowages surrounding Harrietta are prime pike habitat. These waters often feature shallow, weedy bays that provide excellent ambush points for these aggressive predators. Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) are the best times to target pike, as they are most active when water temperatures are cooler. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lures. Dead bait presentations can also be productive, especially when fished near the bottom. A practical tip: many of the lakes have boat launches, but some may be smaller and better suited for smaller boats or kayaks. Also, be sure to use a wire leader to prevent pike from biting through your line.
