Northern Pike

If you're after Northern Pike near Morrice, Michigan, focus your efforts on the Shiawassee River and connected lakes and backwaters. This area, while not a pike fishing hotspot, holds some decent specimens. Spring, right after the ice melts, is a particularly productive time as pike move into shallower areas to spawn. Fall, as the water cools, is another great window. Try targeting weedy areas and submerged structure with large spinnerbaits, spoons, or crankbaits. Dead bait presentations can also be effective. Local anglers often have success near the confluence of smaller creeks and the Shiawassee River. Be aware that the water can be murky, especially after rain, so choose lures with good vibration and visibility.
