Northern Pike

Three Rivers, Michigan, is a pike angler's paradise, thanks to the interconnected waterways of the St. Joseph, Portage, and Rocky Rivers. These rivers, along with connected lakes like Fishers Lake, provide excellent habitat for northern pike to thrive. Early spring, just after ice-out, is a phenomenal time to target these predators as they become very active in the shallows. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective for covering water and triggering strikes. Fall is another excellent period, as pike feed heavily in preparation for winter. A local tip is to focus on areas where the rivers converge or near weed beds and submerged timber. The pike in this area are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful runs, offering a thrilling fishing experience. Several public boat launches are available, but be mindful of shallow areas, especially in late summer.
