Northern Pike

While not a renowned Northern Pike destination, the waters around Fair Grove, Missouri, offer a slim chance at tangling with these toothy predators. Fellows Lake, with its weedy bays and submerged structure, is likely your best bet. Pike are ambush predators, so focus your efforts around areas where they can lie in wait. Spring and fall are the most productive times, as pike prefer cooler water temperatures. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lures. A local tip: use a wire leader to prevent bite-offs, as pike have razor-sharp teeth. Also, be prepared for a fight; pike are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful runs. The pike population is not large, and the fish tend to be on the smaller side, but the thrill of catching one makes the effort worthwhile.
