Northern Pike

While not as widely known as other fisheries in the state, Butler County offers some surprisingly good opportunities to target northern pike. Lake Arthur is a prime location for pike, with its weedy bays and shallow flats providing ideal habitat. Spring, just after ice-out, is an excellent time to target pike as they move into the shallows to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lure choices. In the summer, focus on deeper water near weed lines. Tip: Consider using a wire leader to prevent bite-offs, as pike have sharp teeth. A local boat launch near the Route 422 bridge provides easy access to the lake. Pike in Lake Arthur can reach impressive sizes, so be prepared for a good fight!
