Chasing northern pike near Export, PA? Your best bet is to focus on the smaller lakes and reservoirs in Westmoreland County. While you might not find monster pike, there are opportunities to tangle with some decent-sized fish. Trafford Lake, with its abundant weed growth and shallow bays, is a prime candidate. Target the weedy edges with spinnerbaits, spoons, or jerkbaits. Bushy Run Lake is another option, offering a slightly more open-water environment where trolling can be effective. Spring (April-May), just after ice-out, is typically the best time to target pike as they move into the shallows to spawn. However, early fall (September-October) can also be productive as they feed heavily before winter.
