Northern Pike

While not a renowned pike destination, Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, does offer some limited opportunities for targeting northern pike in its lakes and larger ponds. These toothy predators can provide a thrilling fight and are a welcome surprise for anglers targeting other species. The best times to target pike are during the spring and fall when water temperatures are cooler. In the spring, focus on shallow, weedy bays where pike are likely to be spawning. In the fall, look for them ambushing prey near drop-offs and submerged structure. Large swimbaits, spoons, and spinnerbaits are effective lures for attracting pike. A local tip: Pike have sharp teeth, so always use a wire leader to prevent them from biting through your line. Also, be prepared to handle them carefully to avoid injury to yourself and the fish. Many of the lakes and ponds in the Fleetwood area are best fished from a boat or kayak to access prime pike habitat.
