Rainbow Trout

Rainbow trout fishing near East Wenatchee centers around the Columbia River and its tributaries, along with a few select lakes in the surrounding area. While the Columbia itself isn't typically known for rainbow trout, the tributaries flowing into it, like the Wenatchee River further west, offer better opportunities. Spring and fall are prime times, coinciding with cooler water temperatures and active feeding patterns. For lake fishing, try nearby Fish Lake, known for its stocked rainbows. A great local tip is to check the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) stocking reports before you go. Knowing when and where the fish were recently stocked significantly increases your chances of success. The rainbows in this region are generally hatchery-raised, meaning they respond well to common trout baits and lures like spinners and spoons. Access to the Wenatchee River can be found at various parks and access points along Highway 2.
