Rainbow Trout

The Algoma, Wisconsin area, nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan, offers some fantastic opportunities for targeting rainbow trout. While the big lake gets a lot of the attention, the smaller tributaries that flow into it provide unique fishing experiences. These streams, like the Ahnapee River, are stocked with rainbow trout, offering anglers a chance to catch these beautiful fish in a more intimate setting. A local tip: access the Ahnapee River from the Ahnapee State Trail, which follows the riverbank and provides numerous access points. Look for deep pools and runs where the trout tend to hold.
