Rainbow Trout

If rainbow trout are on your mind near Kennan, Wisconsin, the streams and rivers in the area offer some exciting opportunities. While not as widely known as some other trout destinations in the state, the small, clear streams flowing into the Jump River system can hold surprisingly good populations of rainbows. Spring and fall are the best times to target them, with the cooler water temperatures making them more active. Try fishing with small spinners, spoons, or drifting nymphs through riffles and pools. A local tactic is to focus on areas with overhanging vegetation and undercut banks, as these provide cover for the trout.
