Rainbow Trout

While Little Chute isn't typically known as a premier trout destination, you can find Rainbow Trout opportunities in the nearby tributaries of the Fox River. Specifically, explore some of the smaller creeks and streams that are stocked with trout annually. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target these fish, as water temperatures are cooler and the trout are more active. Check the Wisconsin DNR stocking reports to find the most recently stocked locations near Little Chute. These trout are often eager to take a well-presented fly or small spinner. When fishing these smaller streams, remember to be stealthy and approach the water carefully, as the trout can be easily spooked. A local tip is to try fishing after a light rain, as this can bring the trout out of hiding and make them more willing to bite. Keep in mind that access to some of these streams may be through private property, so always respect landowners and obtain permission where necessary.
