Rainbow Trout

While Neenah isn't necessarily a renowned trout destination, determined anglers can find opportunities for rainbow trout within a reasonable drive. Focus your efforts on the smaller streams and tributaries that feed into the larger Fox River system. These streams, often overlooked, can hold stocked or even wild rainbows, particularly after spring or fall stocking efforts. Spring, immediately after stocking, and fall, as water temperatures cool, are your best bets. Check the Wisconsin DNR stocking reports for specific locations and stocking dates. Small spinners, worms, and trout magnets are effective baits. Remember that many of these streams are small and require a stealthy approach. Access can sometimes be challenging, often requiring permission from landowners or utilizing public access points where available. The rainbows you'll find here may not be giants, but the challenge of finding and catching them in these smaller waters makes for a rewarding experience.
