Rainbow Trout

While not as abundant as brown trout, rainbow trout can be found in some of the streams near Neshkoro. The White River, a bit further north, is stocked with rainbows and offers a decent opportunity to catch them. Spring and fall are the best times to target rainbows, as the water temperatures are more favorable. Look for deeper pools and runs where the fish tend to hold. Small spinners, spoons, and flies can all be effective. A local tip: check the Wisconsin DNR stocking reports to see when and where the river has been stocked recently. This can significantly increase your chances of success. Access to the White River is generally good, with several public access points along its length. Rainbows in this area tend to be smaller, typically in the 8-12 inch range, but they are feisty fighters and can provide plenty of enjoyment for anglers. Be mindful of catch-and-release regulations, and practice responsible fishing techniques to help preserve the fishery.
