Rainbow Trout

While Rockdale, Wisconsin, isn't typically known as a trout mecca, there are some opportunities for Rainbow Trout within a reasonable driving distance. Check the Wisconsin DNR stocking reports to find recently stocked locations. Accessing these smaller streams often involves walking along public lands or obtaining permission from private landowners. Be prepared for tight quarters and use light tackle. A local tactic is to use small spinners or live bait drifted through deeper pools and runs. Remember that trout in these smaller streams are often heavily pressured, so stealth and a natural presentation are key.
