Johns Island offers fantastic opportunities to chase Redfish in the diverse creeks, flats, and marshes surrounding the island. What makes this location special is the mix of saltwater and brackish environments, creating ideal habitat for these fish. Prime time is during the spring and fall as the water temperatures are moderate and the Redfish are actively feeding. Focus on areas with oyster beds and grass lines, which provide cover and attract bait. Low tide can be particularly productive, as Redfish are often concentrated in the deeper channels and potholes. A practical tip is to use a push pole or trolling motor to navigate the shallow flats quietly. Redfish in this area respond well to natural presentations, such as live shrimp or cut bait. Don't be afraid to adjust your depth based on the current and water clarity. The local Redfish population is healthy, with a good mix of smaller 'puppy drum' and larger breeder fish.
