Redfish

The Pawleys Island area offers fantastic Redfish opportunities in its maze of tidal creeks and flats. Focus on areas with oyster beds and spartina grass, as these hold plenty of the crabs, shrimp, and small fish that Reds love. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but you can find Redfish year-round. Tailwater Alley is a local hotspot, but be prepared for shallow water and strong currents. A falling tide is often productive as it concentrates the bait. Try casting a popping cork with a live shrimp or soft plastic imitation. Alternatively, a gold spoon worked slowly along the bottom can entice a strike. Be aware of the local regulations regarding slot size and bag limits, and practice catch and release to help maintain the healthy Redfish population.
