While Union Point itself is inland, targeting Sheepshead requires venturing to the coastal waters and brackish estuaries of Georgia. Focus your efforts on areas with structure like docks, pilings, and oyster beds, as these are magnets for the crustaceans and small invertebrates that Sheepshead love. Spring and fall are prime times, as water temperatures moderate and Sheepshead move inshore to spawn. A key to success is using live bait like fiddler crabs or shrimp presented close to the structure. Pay close attention to the tide; Sheepshead often feed more aggressively during moving tides. Popular access points would be coastal boat ramps to the east and south of Union Point. Remember, Sheepshead are notorious bait stealers, so be patient and use a sensitive rod to detect subtle bites. The Sheepshead here can be surprisingly large, so be prepared for a good fight!
