Sheepshead

Kings Bay, Georgia, provides excellent Sheepshead fishing, particularly around the numerous docks, pilings, and rock jetties that line the waterways. These fish are notorious for their subtle bites, so focus and feel are crucial. Spring and early summer are prime times as they congregate to spawn. A great local tactic is using fiddler crabs as bait – they're a Sheepshead favorite. Rig them on a small, strong hook and fish them close to structure. Access to many of the best spots is available by boat, with several public ramps around the bay. Be aware of the strong tidal currents in the area, as Sheepshead often hold in eddies or behind structure to avoid the full force of the flow. Don't be afraid to use a heavier weight to get your bait down quickly and keep it in the strike zone.
