Smallmouth Bass

While Cedar Lake is better known for Largemouth and Pike, it also holds a decent population of Smallmouth Bass, offering a change of pace. These feisty fish tend to congregate around rocky areas, docks, and deeper, clearer sections of the lake. Look for them around the northern end of the lake, which generally has clearer water. Spring and fall are the best times to target them. In the spring, try tubes and small crankbaits around rocky points. As the water warms, switch to drop-shot rigs and Ned rigs fished along deeper structure. A good local tip: early morning and late evening are often the most productive times, especially during the summer months. Be sure to check the local regulations regarding size and bag limits. Public access is available, but targeting specific structure will likely require a boat.
