Silver Bay offers exceptional smallmouth bass fishing along the rocky shores of Lake Superior. What makes this location unique is the clear, cold water and the dramatic structure of the shoreline. Focus your efforts around rocky points, submerged humps, and near any creek mouths flowing into the lake. The best time to target smallmouth here is from late spring through early fall, as the water warms and the bass become more active. Look for pre-spawn activity in late May and early June. During the summer months, early mornings and late evenings are prime times. A local tip: pay close attention to wind direction; a slight breeze can concentrate baitfish and smallmouth along windward shorelines. Access to the lake is readily available via the Silver Bay Marina and several public access points along Highway 61. Remember, water temperatures can fluctuate rapidly, so dress accordingly and be prepared to adjust your tactics.
