Smallmouth bass enthusiasts will find plenty to love around Reeds Spring, thanks to the clear, rocky waters of Table Rock Lake. This lake is well-known for its healthy smallmouth population. Spring and fall are traditionally the best times to target these hard-fighting fish, as they move shallow to spawn or feed aggressively before winter. Focus your efforts on rocky points, bluff walls, and submerged timber. Tube baits, crankbaits, and jerkbaits are all effective lures. For a unique experience, try fishing the clearer sections of the lake with a fly rod. The James River arm, while shallower, can also hold some nice smallmouths. Be aware that the smallmouth bass population is carefully managed, so check the regulations regarding size and bag limits before you head out.
