Snook

Ponte Vedra Beach offers excellent snook fishing opportunities, particularly in the Tolomato River and the Intracoastal Waterway. These ambush predators thrive in areas with structure, such as docks, bridges, and mangrove shorelines. Spring and fall are prime times to target snook as they move inshore during spawning season and follow bait migrations. Live shrimp, finger mullet, or artificial lures that mimic these baitfish are effective choices. A local tip is to fish around lighted docks at night, as snook are attracted to the light and the baitfish that congregate there. Be mindful of the tides, as snook often hold in areas with strong current. The snook population in Northeast Florida has been steadily recovering, but regulations are in place to protect the fishery, so be sure to check the current size and bag limits before heading out.
