Spotted Bass

Spotted Bass fishing in Nebraska? While not the first species that comes to mind, the lakes and reservoirs near Cordova can hold some surprises. Spotted Bass, though not as common as Largemouth, are present in some of the warmer, clearer waters in this part of the state. Focus your efforts on areas with rocky structure, points, and deeper water. Spring, particularly pre-spawn, and fall are the best times to target them. These fish tend to be structure-oriented, so use your electronics to locate submerged rocks, ledges, and drop-offs. A key tip is to downsize your presentations compared to what you might use for Largemouth. Lighter line and smaller jigs or crankbaits can make a big difference. Access to some of the better spots might require a boat, so check local regulations regarding boat ramps and horsepower restrictions. While you won't find a huge Spotted Bass population, the chance to catch one adds an extra element of excitement to your Nebraska fishing adventure.
