If you're looking for speckled trout in Coastal Georgia, the waters around Darien offer a fantastic opportunity. The maze of tidal creeks, rivers, and sounds like the Altamaha River and Doboy Sound create prime habitat. Spotted seatrout fishing here is heavily influenced by seasonal bait migrations. Spring and fall are peak seasons as trout gorge themselves on shrimp and smaller baitfish. During warmer months, focus on deeper holes and areas with good current flow to find cooler water. A local tip: the Highway 17 bridge crossing the Darien River provides excellent access for bank fishing, especially on the outgoing tide. Also, be mindful of the pluff mud – it can be tricky to navigate. The trout in this area are known for their aggressive strikes, so be prepared for a good fight!
